Tie Dye Keith
The Phoenix is simply the single best compressor I've encountered
in 25 years in the industry; extremely transparent warmth. It is an
everday tool here at TiedyeKeith Studios, be it running on the
front end chain and/or to enhance tracks during the mix process;
it is an engineers best friend. In fact, we tend to double run vocals
and/or guitars through The Phoenix, using both channels for the
same input. If one channel turns you on, you have got to experiment
with using both channels like we do, you'll be hooked. It's awesome
and every single musician whose tracked here has wanted to take
The Phoenix home with them.
We embrace the belief to keep final mixes down to the lowest level
of compression possible in order to allow the most wiggle room for
Emily Lazar (www.thelodge.com) , our mastering engineer the
ideal canvass for her to play with. Running final mix bounces through
The Phoenix, with barely a half dB of compression and going straight
to 1/2 inch master tape is a key to our sound. The Phoenix is in a class
to itself in professional compression and like no other product on the market.
It can bring the digital domain almost completely in line with depth of the
anolog tape, use it once and that's it, you'll be as hooked as we are.
